CHED “Category A” Journals.UP Diliman has six journals with a “Category A” rating from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). A CHED “Category A” journal is credited as an international level publication. It receives from CHED P200,000 per year during the effectivity of accreditation, and an endorsement for library subscription.
Humanities Diliman: A Journal on Philippine Humanities. An internationally-refereed journal for the humanities, which comes out semi-annually and published by the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development.. An open-access journal, it is multilingual and both disciplinal and multi-disciplinary. Humanities Diliman is SCOPUS-indexed. It promotes scholarship in the arts and humanities in the Philippines, as well as international synergies, especially with scholars in Southeast Asia. Dr. Patrick F. Kasarinlan: Philippine Journal of Third World Studies. An internationally-refereed journal published twice a year by the Third World Studies Center, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. It provides a forum for critical and interdisciplinary perspectives on the Philippines and the Third World with special reference to political economy. (Category A-2, 2013 – 2015)
Philippine Humanities Review. Managed by the Publications Program of the College of Arts and Letters, the journal publishes scholarly, critical and analytical works on various aspects of Philippine culture, the arts and letters, as well as creative works in the broad field of the humanities. The Philippine Humanities Review is also available in e-book form (amazon.com, itunes.apple.com, barnesandnoble.com, and flipreads.com). Dr. Gonzalo Campoamor II is its current editor-in-chief. . First published in 2004 as a national journal of communication, it has since evolved to a more inclusive regional focus and has recently begun publishing papers from other Asian countries. Papers published include original research in different areas of media and communication studies in the Philippines and Asia. These can be qualitative or quantitative work in media effects, industry, political economy, subcultural practices, and journalism studies. Released as a regular bi-annual journal, Dr. Elena E. Social Science Diliman. An internationally-refereed semi-annual journal for the social sciences published by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development. Alipato: A Journal of Basic Education. This journal, by the UP Integrated School, publishes trends, developments, and research findings relevant to basic education.
Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspective on Asia. This is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal that has been being published since 1963 by the Asian Center. One of the pioneering journals of its kind in Asia, Asian Studies offers a critical, multidisciplinary platform where scholars, practitioners, and activists can publish research that draws on the theories and perspectives from the social sciences, humanities, and/or cultural studies. Published twice a year, it features research articles, commentaries, reviews, literary works, and travel narratives.
Daluyan: Journal ng Wikang Filipino. Ito ay isang refereed journal na inaasahang mailathala dalawang beses kada taon. Ito ay monolingguwal sa Filipino at may layuning paunlarin ang pag-aaral at pananaliksik tungkol sa wika, panitikan at kulturang Filipino at pagyamanin ang diskurso sa iba’t ibang disiplina gamit ang wikang Filipino. (This is a refereed journal published twice a year. It is a monolingual journal in the Filipino language and aims to develop studies and research on Filipino language, literature, and culture, as well as enhance discourse in various disciplines using the Filipino language.)
Diliman Gender Review. Ang Diliman Gender Review (DGR) ay opisyal na journal ng UP Diliman Gender Office (UPDGO) na inilalathala isang beses bawat taon. Bilang pagsasagawa ng mandato nitong gender mainstreaming, naglalathala ito ng mga pangkasariang pananaliksik, mapanlikhang sulatin, rebyu ng mga tesis, disertasyon, aklat, at produktong pangmidya. Layon nitong magtanghal at magpalaganap ng mga bagong kaalaman at mapalakas ang talastasang pangkasarian na maaaring gamitin sa gawaing pagtuturo, administrasyon at ekstensiyon. Education Quarterly. This journal publishes studies on Language Education, Sociology of Education, Philosophy of Education, Science and Math Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education, Health Education, and Educational Research.
Hukay. A refereed journal of the UP Archaeological Studies Program, Hukay welcomes articles on the archaeology, ethnoarchaeology, and heritage of the Asia and Pacific regions.
International Online Journal of Science and Mathematics Education. This is a refereed online journal devoted to the publication of research articles on all aspects of science and mathematics education. The journal is a publication of the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development of the University of the Philippines. It is published exclusively in electronic format through the World Wide Web.
Journal in Urban and Regional Planning. This is a refereed journal of the UP School of Urban and Regional Planning, whose articles aim to disseminate scholarly insights on prevailing issues shaping urban and rural systems to a wider audience. It is geared towards elevating the practice of urban and regional planning professionals, most especially those engaged in the local planning area. The journal accepts articles concerned with urban and regional planning and allied disciplines such as public works, transportation, real estate development, and the environment—both built and natural, regardless of geographic context.
Journal of English and Comparative Literature. This journal is published twice a year by the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines Diliman. It welcomes articles on language, literature and culture using various theoretical perspectives.
Journal of Philippine Librarianship. This journal publishes articles discussing issues and developments from all fields in the area of library and information science, such as law librarianship, health and medical librarianship, information system, archival studies, children and young adult library services, management of library and information centers, history of the book, libraries and the evolution of the profession, philosophy, ethics, core competencies, legal framework and standards in information work, new and emerging technology and services, information storage and retrieval, collection management, cataloging and classification, indexing and abstracting, thesaurus construction, reference and access, reader services, and preservation and conservation of collections.
Lagda: Journal ng U.P. Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas. Ito ay isang refereed journal na inilalathala dalawang beses kada taon ng DFPP, Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura, Unibersidad ng Pilipinas. Linguae et Litterae. This journal is published by the College of Arts and Letters – Department of European Languages.
Muhon. This is the official journal of the College of Architecture of the University of the Philippines in Diliman for discussion of ideas on architecture, landscape architecture, and the designed environment.
Musika Jornal. This is a revival of the scholarly periodical that saw the publication of three issues during the incumbency of Dr. Jose Maceda as Chair of the Department of Asian Music in the late 1970s (77, 78, 79). Musika Jornal deals with music research and/or contemporary music in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
Philippine Engineering Journal. This journal as a national medium of exchange of technical information and dissemination of engineering knowledge through the publication of technical papers, technical notes, and research briefs. Published by the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc. for the National Engineering Center, this journal is distributed at reasonable rates to various government agencies, private industrial concerns, engineering schools, professional organizations, international entities, and practitioners in the field of engineering.
Philippine Journal of Public Administration.This is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes research, reflections, and other scholarly work on public administration and governance within and outside the Philippines twice a year. The PJPA showcases developments, challenges, and ways forward in the fields of policy and program administration, fiscal administration, voluntary sector management, leadership, ethics and accountability in public service, local governance, spatial administration, citizenship, democracy, organization and management, e-governance and networked governance, among others.
Philippine Journal of Social Development. This journal contains discussions derived from rich experiences in the field of social welfare, community organizing, gender and development, participatory development, advocacy, and development action.
Philippine Journal on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This is a peer-reviewed journal published by the University of the Philippines – Institute for Small-Scale Industries that aims to popularize SME research studies and enrich the literature on the subject and related topics such as: enterprise development, entrepreneurship education, marketing and customer management, product design and development, technology management, quality management, productivity improvement and management, environment and energy management, green enterprises, innovation management, financial management, human resource management, information management, SME policy development, ergonomics, and safety.
Philippine Law Journal. This journal was organized in 1914 by the first dean of the UP College of Law and, at that time, was the only English legal publication in the Orient. It is a student-run publication devoted to the promotion of legal research and the advancement of legal knowledge. It is edited by a student editorial board composed of select members of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes of the UP College of Law.
Philippine Management Review. An annual publication of the Cesar E. A. Virata School of Business (VSB, formerly, the College of Business Administration), the Philippine Management Review is a peer-reviewed venue for research work done in VSB. Outside contributions from other academics and practitioners are published on a selective basis.
Philippine Political Science Journal. This is an internationally peer reviewed journal published by the Philippine Political Science Association. It is included in the international master list of scientific journals and the Social Sciences Citation Index. This journal accepts manuscripts and book reviews on topics relevant to Philippine politics, government, and foreign relations.
Philippine Review of Economics. Published twice a year (June and December) by the UP School of Economics and Philippine Economic Society, this journal is devoted to the publication of theoretical and empirical work in economic development. It welcomes papers about the Philippines and other developing countries. It is also a forum for research findings that show the relation of economics with other disciplines.
Philippine Social Sciences Review. A peer-reviewed journal of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, this journal aims to promote the critical exchange of ideas and research findings in the social sciences and philosophy among the faculty, research staff, and students of the CSSP, the Diliman academic community, as well as communities of scholars in other parts of the country and the world.
This journal was established in 1996 to “examine in depth contemporary key economic, social and political issues facing the country.” It was expected to be “an authoritative journal for public policy guidance to be disseminated to other academic institutions, policy makers in government, the private business sector and non-government organizations.” The journal’s initial issue first saw print in the last quarter of 1997. PPJ then became a bi-annual publication during the 2000s.
This is a refereed journal published twice a year by the UP Center for Women’s Studies, University of the Philippines.
The Archive. This is the official journal of the Department of Linguistics, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines Diliman. The Regular Series of the journal serves as a peer-reviewed publication for original works dealing primarily but not exclusively with Philippine languages and dialects.
